The firm helps these institutions manage, analyse and monetise their customer data to fight technological lag and customer churn.\u00a0 Turmakhan\u2019s\u00a0intervention follows reports that the US economy contracted for the first time since 2022, further fueling fears of a recession, according to various reports.<\/p>\n<p>At\u00a0TurmaFinTech,\u00a0Turmakhan\u00a0has seen a concerning \u201ccomplacency\u201d among community banks, many of which believe their customer bases will forever remain stable. Tools that can help smaller institutions\u00a0identify\u00a0at-risk customers and streamline communications will be key to building customer trust in a low-growth environment.<\/p>\n<p>For him, the time for \u201ccomplacency\u201d is over\u00a0\u2013 without a refocus on customer retention, community banks could be at risk of extinction as a recession hits.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Adam\u00a0Turmakhan, CEO at\u00a0TurmaFinTech, said:<\/strong>\u00a0\u201cUS community banks have become increasingly complacent about their customers. They believe they will be there no matter what, but with a recession now\u00a0likely, the\u00a0last thing smaller institutions should do is take their depositors for granted.\u00a0They\u2019ll\u00a0simply leave themselves open to bank runs, failures and, at worst, widespread extinction.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRetention will be the all-important factor in surviving an economic downturn \u2013 and to effectively settle customer churn, community banks must invest in technology. Historically, these institutions have taken a less-than-favorable view of the likes of AI, but that must change \u2013 especially with brick-and-mortar branches becoming increasingly\u00a0few and far between.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStrong, personal customer relationships\u00a0remain\u00a0at the core of community banking, but this customer complacency\u00a0we\u2019re\u00a0seeing right now is untenable.
