Superseding the previous record where the MET confiscated \u00a3114 million worth of cryptocurrency, setting a record for a cryptocurrency seizure in Britain.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><span style=\"color: #0e101a\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm\"><span style=\"color: #0e101a\">The MET Police says a 39-year-old woman, arrested on suspicion of money laundering in the June raid, has been interviewed over the new seizure. She has since been bailed. The MET didn&#8217;t specify the type of cryptocurrency that had been confiscated nor how it was seized.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><span style=\"color: #0e101a\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm\"><span style=\"color: #0e101a\">As cryptocurrencies are mainly anonymous, convenient and global, some of the world&#8217;s most prominent criminal groups have bet big on them as a way to launder money and stay one step ahead of the police, tax and security forces.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><span style=\"color: #0e101a\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm\"><span style=\"color: #0e101a\">The Metropolitan Police, the force that oversees the Greater London region, stated that it was the largest amount of cryptocurrency ever seized by police in the U.K. Adding it was also believed to be one of the largest ever seizures of cryptocurrency globally.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm\"><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><span style=\"color: #0e101a\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm\"><span style=\"color: #0e101a\">Deputy Assistant Commissioner Graham McNulty said:<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><span style=\"color: #0e101a\">\u00a0&#8220;Proceeds of crime are laundered in many different ways. While cash still remains king in the criminal world, as digital platforms develop, we&#8217;re increasingly seeing organised criminals using cryptocurrency to launder their dirty money.
